Launch of STAG
The KITE (Knowhow Ideas That Excite) team from our unit work with health and research professionals in developing bespoke applications using informatics. Most recently, Bart Feenstra, Clinical Research Analyst Programmer deployed a web-based version of STAG which was originally a mobile app created by a group of UoS Computer Science students that were previously part of the KITE team. STAG (Southampton tool for action on Glucose) aids trained healthcare professionals by offering supportive advice and clinical actions to consider when managing patients with suspected or known diabetes. The easy to use and innovative online system walks you through the steps to generate a patient report based on patient information and observations. The reasoning behind deploying STAG as a web-based system was due to web-based applications being portable. The new version now works on any device with a web browser which can easily be accessed through its URL. The functionality is the same but STAG now has improved content due to new research, best practices and national guidelines that have come out since the previous version which was developed 3-4 years ago. The KITE team are hoping to make more functional improvements in the near future.
STAG is currently being used by clinical teams at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust with an expected rise in usage following its deployment to the web.
